a lazy green river
flows quietly by
mist in the distance
sun in the sky
and I with my camera
all perched in a tree
hoping to capture
a nice memory
a sound just behind me
takes me by surprise
twisting to see it
sun in my eyes
my foot slips, I'm falling
out there on a limb
I splash in the river
too bad I can't swim
I quickly go under
I sink like a rock
I breathe river water
no time to take stock
of why I'm so foolish
to perch in a tree
just so to capture
a nice memory
With no one to save me
it ended that day
my life flashed before me
a tragic screenplay
the worst thing is clearly
for those who might know him
he ain’t here to finish
this dumb little poem
